It is normal…. what you described is exactly what the “Pause on finished image does”, which is the setting you had it on.  Test it again. Click the pause on finished image checkbox sand start a batch. You will see that it does the same thing again. That setting is right next to the Pause to scale setting so it’s easy to click the wrong one.  I know you don’t think you had that setting turned on, but I’m pretty sure it was because the program won’t just run that sequence unless it is checked.
