Yes, you could do that. However, using SPA for renaming seems like kind of a clunky way to do that.  Also, if the images are jpg then yo reintroduce more compression artifacts each time you open and resave.  My favorite program for simply renaming files form a CSV is Advanced Renamer.  You just set up a 2 column CSV and it can rename everything without having to open and resave files. it only takes a few seconds and voids having to resave files. Here in a like to the program (it is for Windows only).
