Can you please post a before and after crop? This is likely due to how much of the image is being cropped off.
Face Crop by default doesn’t resize the images. You just end up with whatever is left over after cropping off the edges of the frame.
So if you crop in on the head and only have 1,200 pixel left in image height after cropping the head, then the final saved crop is only 1200 pixels tall. You can save a preset in Face Crop to force any size you want. So for example, you can create a Face Crop preset than saves as 8×10 300PPI, whilc would be 2400 x 3000 pixels. However, if the image is smaller than that after cropping then it has to upscale the image which can degrade the quality. So, say for example, there are only 1200 x 960 pixel left over after cropping then head but you have a preset set to 2400 x 3000 (8×10 – 300 PPI), then the plugin would have to upscale the cropped head by 250% to force the image to be 2400 x 3000.
So it is for this reason that resampling/resizing is off by default.
A general rule of thumb for print 8 x 10 is 2400 x 3000 pixels. So if you are planning to crop and print as 8 x10, then the images need to be much higher resolution than 2400 x 3000 pixels before cropping to ensure you have that amount left over after cropping.
Hope this makes sense. You can watch this video for more details.
