In order to change the font and have it be automated when you run, you would have to edit the layout files in the templates and change it for every image slot. Then save the layout PSD files. That would be a lot of work….. but that is how it would have to be done.
If you only want to change the font color then you could use a layer style to do that in the EZCOMP_GRAPHICS file and add in the “light” layer style. Then you can select that layer style when building the composites.
As far as the font itself goes, the layout designer creates the layouts in Arial font only for a few reasons.
First, the names are usually really small so I went with something readable.
Second, I needed to choose a font that I know would have most of the common non-English characters, for example ñ.
Third, All fonts take up different spacing, even if they are the same point value. That makes it really complicated to make a layout generator to have it space everything just right. So to simplify the layout generator, it just uses Arial font.
So the bottom line it that EZ Composites plugin can build the composites using templates that are set up in any font….. but the layout generator only makes templates in Arial font.
It is one my long “to do” list to create some kind of script that can edit the layout files to change the fonts and resave the layout files. However, I haven’t had time to look into that yet. So it would be something that could be done in the future, but not any time soon. I have a lot of other higher priority projects in front of this.
If you are planning to use the same template over and over then it may be worth your time to manually edit the template and resave it instead of changing the text after you run it every time. There are a lot of layout files in each template though so it would be some work, unfortunately.
If you look at the Polaroid template as an example, this template uses the Jann Script font. However, I didn’t use the layout generator to build this template. I did this all manually when making the template.
