No, I don’t think it is a bug.  If SPA is telling you that the template can’t run because it isn’t sRGB then the template probably isn’t actually saved as sRGB.

Please open the PSD template in Photoshop. The go to “Image>Assign Profile” (not Convert To Profile) in the Photoshop menu. What does it show that the color profile of the template is when going to Assign Profile?

Convert to Profile can sometimes trick you. If a template is save as “Unmanaged” profile then it will tell you it is whatever the working profile settings in PS are set to, even though the template doesn’t have a profile embedded. The default working profile in PS is sRGB. So if the template is unmanaged for color profile then Convert Top Profile will show it is sRGB in those cases even if it isn’t.

Assign profile will show you if the template is unmanaged, so that is the best to use for checking to see what the profile is.  However, never use Assign to profile to change the profile because that can cause color shifting. Always use Convert To Profile when changing the profile. If the profile is unmanages and Convert To Profile shows sRGB for both the source and Destination, still apply it and resave and then it will actually be sRGB after that.
