I don’t think this has anything to do with the activations.
Without seeing it run my guess is that it opens the images a tries to detect a face but can’t. If it can’t detect faces then that is typically a GPU issue.
In Photoshop, go to the preferences, then to the Performance section. Is the checkbox that says “Use Graphics Processor” checked on. If it isn’t then check it on and that will probably fix the issue. Let me know if that works.
