    I think there is still some miscommunication here…..

    It doesn’t matter whether the PNG cutout images are 8 bit or 16 bit. The PNG cutouts don’t determine what the final saved composited images will be for bit depth.

    The file saved composite will be whatever the PSD template is (not whatever the PNG cutout is). So Even if the PNG cutouts are 16 bit, but the PSD design template is 8 bit, you can batch that way and will will save the final composites as 8 bit. SPA puts the cutouts into the PSD design template file. So the cutouts automatically become whatever the PSD design template is when they are placed into the design.

    So if the images are 16 bit after running through SPA then you only need to change the 1 PSD template file to 8 bit before batching. You don’t need to update the cutout files. You can batch with those as 16 bit because they become 8 bit when they are placed into the 8 bit template file.
