You don’t need an action to do this anymore. You can do it in SPA now which is much easier. I made this video before it was possible in SPA.

Just setup a blank “template” with Player mode 2, 3, or 4 depending on how you want to align the images. These are the modes that have the bottom red line for the feet.

Then when you batch process in SPA, check the option that says “Select Subject For Player Edges”.  Then it will run select subject to fid the bottom of the player instead of using transparency edges.

You just need to make sure you shoot loose enough so the there are no empty spaces in the images after it places and aligns.  In particular, on the left and right sides when shooting 2:3 and fitting into a 4:5 space, you need to make sure you have enough image left over on the left and right to not leave gaps.  It can be really deceiving shooting 2:3 because it seems you are shooting loose when there is a lot of extra room on top and bottom but not as much room left and right. So in order for this technique to work, whether using and action or using SPA,  you just need to ensure you are over compensating with space around all 4 edges when shooting.
