You will probably have to edit the template using layer masks.  With SPA, it will add the player to a group folder.  In the group folder, you will need to add a layer mask that has the transparency fade you want.

I don’t have the template so I have no idea how it is set up.

Can you post s screenshot of the layer set up for the template for how it adds the transparency?
