Damon BellYes, that should work as long as you are not processing images with the same files names again.
However, it is generally not a good practice to keep the file that huge. It will slow Photoshop down when having to keep track of the history states for a 9GB file. It will slow Photoshop down when automating and having to write history starts for the huge file. It will also build up the RAM usage quickly and start in on the scratch disk.
Anytime you have to save a file as .psb that is a general indicator that the file is excessively bloated and will generally run slower.
