No, it can detect faces in a silhouette. It needs to have a visible face to do face detection.

I should have thought to ask that. I was thinking you screen was displaying a mask from the one of the layers the Face Crop creates during the proces, not the actual image itself . It does a Select Subject mask as part of the process so I thought the screen was just stuck showing that.  I didn’t realize that was the actual image itself that you were trying to detect a face on.
