Yes, that is how you can do it.  You can just uncheck the visibility of the group folder for the SPA layers too (the eyeball) and then it will be invisible.  Do it on the folder, not the layer. the layer will become visible if you uncheck it but the group won’t.

Also, you can use the same dummy image for all rows in the CSV.
