    Under the Photoshop preferences, under the Image Processing section, is Select Subject set to Device or Cloud?  If it is set to Cloud then set it to Device and retry.

    I have seen on some peoples computer where Select Subject times out and Face Crop doesn’t work.  Maybe the same thing is happening on you computer. Can you please test a batch with Face Crop. make sure to use the Chin to top of Subject algorithm, not the Head Only algorithm.  If Face Crop has issues to the it could be a GPU issue.
