    This settings will not affect the mask on that layer.

    I have never seen exact issue this before. However, I have a gut feeling that you could have a corrupted PS prefs file. I have seen corrupted files cause strange issues with layer creations before.

    Please go into the Photoshop preferences. Click the “Reset Preferences on Quit” button. Then restart Photoshop and rerun the extraction.  The mask on the spill correction layer should look just like the screenshot I posted in the last reply if it is working correctly.
