Image Extract Change Log

4.4.0

  • Removed option to run device mode for extractions.  The Select Subject Cloud mode is so much better in the new model, there is no case when you want to run device mode. You don’t need to change the option to cloud in the PS preference. Image Extract will automatically run cloud mode regardless of what the PS preference is set to.
  • Image Extract checks for internet connection before every image is ran and will prompt an alert if there is no connection. This prevents Photoshop from running the extractions in device mode, which Photoshop does automatically if there is no internet connection.  If internet connection is lost during the batch then the batch will stop with the popup message to resume the batch or abort it. This prevents the batch from finishing in device extraction mode if internet connection is lost.
  • For PS 26.6.0 Beta or higher, the refine hair mask option has been removed. This is automatically done in the new Select Subject cloud mode and it generally does a better job then the local edge refinement mode.  With the prior Image Extract release, having the Refine Hair Mask turned on would reprocess the edges locally and it usually works better with it on. So this option has been removed to prevent this. Note: The Refine Hair Mask option is still available for PS 26.5.0 or lower.
  • The Edge Hair Color Fix is now off by default and the default opacity for it is 35.  If you want to use it then just click the checkbox and enter the opacity that you want to use. The feedback from multiple users were they were confused about why the rim lighting was being removed on the edge hairs when they wanted to keep the rim lighting halo. Based on this, we decided to have if off by default.  Also, the default value of 70 was sometimes too strong… but really depends on the background you are removing and the background you are putting the images into. The bottom line is this feature still works the same…. just the default settings have changed.
