I see the answer was posted on Facebook so I will post it on here as well:
The font you are using only supports caps and no small letters. If you modify the text layer to force caps then even if your data has small letters, it will use all caps. This way you don’t need to modify the data. So make this change and save the template with this turned on for the text layer. Then you’ll be good to go for data with small letters.
You may want to relay the info the the template designer so maybe the template can be distributed this way??? This would help a lot of people so they don’t get stuck not knowing what to do.
